Using the Top List visualization allows you to display a list of the highest or lowest metric values, such as the consumers using the most CPU or the hosts with the least disk space.
Top List Settings
① Select your visualization
You can change the Widget Type.
② Graph your data
You can configure the data to be displayed in the graph.
There are three editing methods available.
Edit: The default UI tab for graph options.
a. Select the data to be displayed in the graph.
Metric: To configure metric queries, refer to the query documentation.
Indexed Span: To configure indexed span queries, refer to the trace search documentation.
Log Events: To configure log event queries, refer to the log search documentation.
b. Click Add Query to add data to be displayed in the graph for (a), or click Add Formula if an additional formula is needed for (b).
c. Limit list to: Specify the number of target lists.
Top: Displays the highest values for the metric set in (a).
Bottom: Displays the lowest values for the metric set in (a).
d. Visual Formatting Rules: You can represent the state of values in the Top List widget using colors.
(e.g., If the value is greater than 10, show with a green background.)e. Context Links: You can edit links associated with the widget’s graph.
JSON: This method allows you to edit in JSON format. (Reference: widget JSON schema definition)
Share: Generates an embed code that allows the graph to be included on a webpage.
③ Set display preferences
You can specify the time interval for the graph. When set to Global Time, it will change according to the time range selected in the global time selector at the top of the dashboard.
④ Give your graph a title
Enter the widget’s title. If left blank, Datadog will automatically generate a title based on the data set in the graph.
