Using time-series visualization allows you to display the evolution of one or more metrics, log events, or indexed spans over time.
Timeseries Settings
① Select your visualization
You can change the Widget Type.
② Graph your data
You can configure the data to be displayed on the graph.
There are three ways to edit:
Edit: This is the default UI tab for graph options.
a. Select the data to be displayed as a graph.
Metric: To configure a metric query, refer to the query documentation.
Indexed Span: To configure an indexed span query, refer to the trace search documentation.
Log Event: To configure a log event query, refer to the log search documentation.
b. If a formula is needed for the selected data in (a), enter the formula.
c. To add more data to be displayed as a graph, click Add Query. If an additional formula is needed, click Add Formula.
d. Configure the display options for the graph.
Display: Choose from Lines / Areas / Bars.
Color: Select the desired color combination.
Style: Choose from Solid / Dashed / Dotted.
Stroke: Choose from Normal / Thin / Thick.
e. You can add syntax from (a) to (d).
* Both adding via Add Query and using Graph Additional are allowed.
If different display options are needed, use Graph Additional. If the same display options are needed, use Add Query.f. Event Overlays: When an event matching the entered text occurs, it can be displayed on the graph.
Enter a query to display the event. Use the same query format as in Event Stream. When enabled, events will be overlaid as red bars on the graph.
g. Markers : Adds a line or range marker to the graph.
h. Y-Axis Controls : Allows editing of the Y-axis.
Adds a second Y-axis for visualizations containing multiple datasets.
Trims the Y-axis to a specific range.
Automatically adjusts Y-axis boundaries based on percentage or absolute value thresholds. These thresholds can be applied to either end of the graph (lower or upper) to remove "outlier" series.
Changes the Y-axis scale from linear to log, pow, or sqrt.
i. Legend : Allows selection of how the legend is displayed.
(Even if set to None, the legend will be visible when the widget is expanded to full screen.)j. Context Links : Allows editing of links that can be associated with a selected widget graph.
JSON : Editing in JSON format. (Reference: widget JSON schema definition )
Share : Generates an embed code to include the graph in a web page.
③ Set display preferences
