Query value displays the current value of the specified metric, APM, or log query. Conditional formatting (e.g., green/yellow/red background) is provided to indicate whether the value is within the expected range.
Query Value Settings
① Select your visualization
You can change the Widget Type.
② Graph your data
You can configure the data to be displayed in the graph.
Three types of editing are available:
Edit: This is the default UI tab for graph options.
a. Select the data to be displayed in the graph.
Metric: To configure a metric query, refer to the query documentation.
Indexed Span: To configure an indexed span query, refer to the trace search documentation.
Log Event: To configure a log event query, refer to the log search documentation.
b. To add data to be displayed in the graph, click Add Query. To add a formula calculation, click Add Formula.
c. Units and formatting
Show: Select the number of decimal places to display for the value.
Align: Select the alignment for the value.
Autoformat: Automatically adjusts number formatting (e.g., 1000 → 1k, 1000000 → 1M).
Use Custom Units: Allows users to specify a unit (if not selected, the unit is automatically displayed).
d. Visual Formatting Rules: You can use colors to indicate the state of the query value.
(e.g., If the value is greater than 10, display with a green background.)e. Context Links: You can edit links associated with selecting the widget's graph.
JSON: This is the method for editing in JSON. (Reference: widget JSON schema definition.)
Share: Generates an embed code that allows you to include the graph on a webpage.
③ Set display preferences
You can specify the time range of the graph. If set to Global Time, it will be adjusted according to the time range selected in the global time selector at the top of the dashboard.
④ Give your graph a title
Enter the title for the widget. If not entered, Datadog will automatically generate a title based on the data set in the graph.
